There’s truly nothing like Newport Beach at night for an engagement session. The strand is empty and right as magic hour hits the skyline turns into a painting. Alexa and EJ showed up 5 minutes before the sun went down leaving us about 20 minutes to shoot. They ran straight from their car to the water and completely let go and fell into the process. I set my speaker to full volume and allowed the music guide the session.
You wouldn’t believe this was our first time meeting with the amount of trust they put in my right off the bat. I’m so thankful when couples are able to do this! They were willing to try anything I directed them to do without hesitation, resulting in effortless feeling photos. I truly believe the magic of the beach at night helps set the tone for this to happen.
I love the feel of the blues and dusty pinks that blue hour washed over these images. It just feels like them. A few months after this session I got to party with them at their wedding. I’ll link that blog at the bottom of this post if you want to check it out!
