Get In Touch
These Los Angeles Engagement photos have a special place in my heart. Nat and Joe are just straight up good people. When we first met over the phone, I have to say that Joe took me by surprise. He’s for sure more type A than Nat and totally took over the engagement session planning. I tend to be more laid back in my relationships with my clients so I hoped he would vibe with me when we met in person. (Joe if you’re reading this- you scared me at first 😉 but love you and we’re homies for life!) When I got to their house, I found them to be beyond chill, hilarious, and super warm.
I see so much of myself in Natalie. She could kind of care less about having photos of herself. So immediately I knew I had to give her something she was excited about. Her lightheartedness totally shined through and her and Joe were the perfect subjects. Relaxed, in the moment with each other and super down to just have fun. The best way to work. The first half of the session was in their DTLA apartment with their fur baby and a bottle of limoncello. Pro tip, a little booze always helps warm you up for a shoot and I strongly encourage. Then we rode the Angels Flight like they did so many times when they were first dating (cute) and walked around the city where where they fell in love. (Los Angeles, baby.) I love that. Finding places and things that actually mean something to my couples make the sessions so special for them.
At the time I was working on my guide for wedding photographers, teaching them to use their flash. After little convincing, J + N humored me, and we jumped into their rooftop pool at the end of the session so I could play around and take some flash photos. They were the best sports, and this session is one of my all time faves.
